What a great first week back.  Students are engaged in collaborative learning groups, team building, problem solving, and technology.  Classes have been learning about Edmodo, an Internet program that is designed similar to Facebook, but is used for educational purposes.  The students are learning the program quickly and are excited about the discussions they are having with Mrs. Peery.  Mr. McBride has been working hard towards teaching all of our fifth graders science safety and the students are having a great time.  Fourth graders have been busy writers this week.  It was great walking around and reading their goals for this school year.  I am so impressed with our third graders!  They are working hard and showing us what they know.  This has been a great first week and I so glad to have these students with us.  Thank you for letting us work with your children.  

     Pep Rally…..today the high school has its first pep rally.  Parents it is very important that you send a note with your child so their teacher will know that someone will be here to pick them up.  Students with a note will be taken to the cafeteria.  At 2:45 we will begin letting parents pick up students to take them.  We will have a sign out sheet for you to sign so if you arrive early you are welcome to sign them out, but they will be released at 2:45. There are lots of visitors on campus so this is a way we can get your children to you quickly and safely.  IF your child did not have a note and you come you will need to go to the office and check them out through the office.  Please know that this might take some more time.  We appreciate your help and patience with us during this process!

     Wow!  We had an amazing first day at White Oak Intermediate Campus.  The students were respectful, helpful, and did an amazing job of listening.  It was great to see everyone in their first day of school clothes, new shoes, and excitement for this school year.  I want to thank you parents for all of your support at the beginning of this school year.  We had such a great turn out at Meet the Teacher.  We appreciate you.  I hope that you and your children get plenty of rest tonight.  I know that we have a busy first week back and I look forward to it.

It is hard to believe that the beginning of the new school year is right around the corner.  It was such a pleasure to meet all of the parents and students that were able to attend registration.  The Intermediate campus has been very busy getting ready for this new school year.  During summer vacation the Intermediate teachers attended Project Based Learning (PBL) training.  This year White Oak ISD hosted a technology conference for educators.  We were fortunate to have presenters from all over the state, other districts, and of course had our own teachers sharing the amazing things we are doing in our district.

During the month of August grade levels have met to begin planning for this next school year.  It has been wonderful getting to be with the teachers and getting to know them better.  White Oak Intermediate truly has some amazing employees.  It is a such a blessing to work on a campus with individuals like those that we are have here.  Next week all of our staff will return.  We are looking forward to some phenomenal staff development.  Meet the teacher will be next Thursday, August 23rd, from 4:30-5:30.  During that time you can bring your child’s school supplies, pay for their planner and other fees, and order t-shirts.
